Some of you might wonder where my recent fascination with hedgehogs (Igel) comes from. Here’s the story.

Rewind to a year and a half ago. I had recently moved to Berlin and a second hand thrift store opened around the corner from my home. One day, as I was walking by the store, I saw a giant stuffed hedgehog on sale. I stopped and looked and deliberated. Those who know me know that I take far too much time pondering decisions, when I should really just make a decision and run with it. I decided that I would return at a later time and pick up the hedgehog. Much to my dismay, when I later returned to the store, the hedgehog was already gone. I was sorely disappointed, and from then on, I decided that I absolutely should not deliberate and waffle so much in the future.

Last fall, as I was walking by another store, I saw some giant stuffed hedgehogs on sale. I didn’t hesitate or vacillate this time - I grabbed one of the hedgehogs and ran to the checkout and didn’t look back.
